PLAYABLE CHARACTERS

PLAYABLE CHARACTERS

The game is panfandom. Canons, OCs, and AUs are allowed. AUs and OCs may have more stringent app requirements. AUs in particular must have realistic differences due to the AU events, but also must still retain some of the spirit of the original character rather than being AUed so drastically they seem like an OC.

CRAUs (characters with growth from past RPs) and Canon OCs (OCs from pre-existing canon universes) are not allowed. For example, a "hunter" OC from the Supernatural universe would not be allowed.

OCs and NPCs from tabletop and MMO fandoms are allowed. This is the only exception to the "canon OC" rule.

No real people are allowed, unless they're fictionalized historical characters. Fictionalized historical characters must be from before the 1800s, and even then, they will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Characters with very little facetime in canon (including silent protagonists in video games) are allowed. However, they will have a more stringent app as they're essentially an OC. We expect the player to fill in the blanks with headcanon that would be reasonable for the canon and character.

All characters must be 11 years of age or older. Characters between 11 and 16 will also be judged more harshly than adult characters regarding the game's suitability requirement. Child or teen characters must be capable enough to be able to defend themselves or contribute to survival, or at least be capable of learning how to do so relatively quickly with the help of other characters or resources in the game (like magic). We may occasionally allow a character younger than 11 into the game on a case by case basis, if they fit the "being capable of surviving/defending themselves" requirement, but this will be very, very rare. (Think characters like the book version of Arya Stark, from "A Song of Ice And Fire" who was under 11 when she started to learn to fight and kill.) If your character is an odd case, ask the mods before you reserve or app. Players do have the option to do older AUs of young characters to get them over the age limit, pulling them from further ahead in their personal timeline.

"Crack" characters from universes with strange world physics will be case by case. This will be based on how well they'd work with the limitations of the world and we expect these characters to meet "real" world limitations. Ask the mods before apping if you think this applies to you.

Non-humanoid and non-organic characters are allowed. In most cases, you may keep them in their normal bodies. Robots, androids, tentacle aliens, energy beings, etc. are all allowed. The only exception would be beings that could somehow break the setting (ie sprawling bubbling horrors like Lovecraftian gods). We may pose some limitations on the powers their natural state provides them, or count those powers as one of the powers the character is allowed. Our only requirement regarding species/powers/form is that the character is somehow mortal - that they can be physically destroyed or killed.

Characters with special dietary needs like vampires or zombies are allowed. The mods can help you come up with an in-universes way to get their food resources (such as working out an arrangment between the vampire and other characters for blood donations) or a magic handwave.

Villains are allowed. Even some openly villainous characters can work in game as part of the fellowship, since some villains would be willing to work together with the rest of the group since they're magically bonded with them. However, villains must be able to cooperate with others, and be willing to not attack others, as there's nothing to ICly prevent other characters from killing a threat within the group.

NPCs are allowed through the npc system if they would not work as a PC. This is true of both villains and non-villains. Please see the NPC SYSTEM page for details.

Characters must have some capacity to adjust to the setting and the quest. Even if they don't yet know how to survive in a fantasy setting, they must have capacity to learn how. "Dead weight" that can't fight or offer assistance to others in the group would have no way of leaving. Therefore, any characters that enter the game must at least have the capacity to rise to the challenge of adventuring in a fantasy world.

Characters who are unwilling to 'play ball' may be unsuitable for this game. Please keep in mind that the group is magically bound together, meaning that those that would refuse to cooperate with the rest of the fellowship would make it difficult for the game to function. If your character is particularly stand-offish or unwilling to work with others, we may ask further questions regarding their integration into the setting and how you plan to have them learn to start cooperating with others.
