Long version: Sariatu was raised in a highly repressive environment to be an assassin. Her father took her son's eye, transformed her husband into a giant beetle, attacked her and left her with a debilitating brain injury. Her sister murdered her husband in front of her. Her existence as Monkey was a magical suicide run that was only sustainable for a few days in her world. Finding herself living for a much longer, uncertain period of time in an animal body is going to give her some body dysmorphia as the quest goes on, on top of which, she's grieving her spouse, unsure if her child was murdered or not, and generally just has not been having a good week at all.
